Are You Putting All Your Marketing Eggs in the Social Media Basket?

When it comes to marketing your healthcare, wellness, or movement business, you want to get the message out… but don’t have a ton of time to try all the marketing techniques out there.

Usually, this means that you use social media a lot, and that’s great! There is one downside, though: social media changes everyday. Algorithms especially can be your worst enemy when it comes to growing your audience, attracting people you really want to serve, and turning them into booked clients or patients.

In case you’re new to this business thing, social media algorithms are essentially the “system” showing people what they want to see. The algorithms change all the time, which means what works one day might not work the next.

I personally think this is exciting. Right now, the Instagram algorithm prefers Reels content, so I’ve been creating more of those videos lately. I also change up the times and days I go Live to see how that affects my viewership, like I did with my most recent Facebook Live.

But I can play with social media because I don’t sink all my time into it. I have other “irons in the fire,” if you will.

Instead of focusing on my follower count or likes on Instagram, I am focused on making sure I have a holistic marketing strategy. You need one, too.

Why you need a holistic marketing strategy

It’s so important to think about other ways you can connect with new people beyond social media. I’m sure, as a wellness pro, you’ve told your clients to think about their bodies or health challenges “holistically,” right?

Well, the same goes for your marketing. Your marketing shouldn’t be based on the likes you get on Facebook or Instagram. It should be based on five things:

  • ATTRACTING your ideal customer/client through organic search, networking, and research.
  • NURTURING your existing audience with email campaigns, small offers, presence, and more.
  • OFFERING your services or products, and making it clear how you can help your audience.
  • SERVING those who buy from you, so you build brand loyalty and increase word of mouth reputation.
  • RETAINING and re-engaging those who’ve come into contact with your brand, or have worked with you in the past.

I know that might sound overwhelming, but the cool thing is: You can have a super simple marketing strategy that supports all of these pillars and doesn’t take up all your time. They all feed into each other, and get you even better results.

For example, you could create a free resource about your clients’/patients’ specific challenges and promote that on social, on your website, and via email. You can let people who sign up for that free resource know how else they can work with you, and you can start conversations with them that can generate more word of mouth.

Do you see how it’s all connected?? And that’s just one example.
