Create 3x Content in ⅓ of the Time!

content creation tips Feb 23, 2020

As a business coach and entrepreneur, I often get questions like “how do you find the time to do all that?” or more commonly “I could never find the time.”

For many healthcare and fitness entrepreneurs, time is our most valuable resource especially being in the trading time for money model which is why time management should be the most important skill to master.

We spend time not only in marketing and content creation, but in managing our own teams and businesses, and most importantly, in taking care of our families and loved ones.

Time is the one thing we can never get back, that’s why we need to do everything we can to be as efficient as possible.

So how do we do that?

1. To make time, you have to spend time.

Yes, the saying doesn’t only apply to money.

If you missed out on my FB Live video last week, I talked about how to create your best content, and one crucial step is to give yourself “CLARITY BREAKS” or time & space to be creative.

Spending a couple of hours to simply open your mind, find inspiration, and jot down ideas in your notebook is a great way to come up with awesome content ready for posting.

If you want to learn more on last week’s topic, the video is still up HERE.

2. “If it’s not scheduled, it’s not real” - Marie Forleo

Whether it’s work related or personal, if it’s not in my calendar, it’s not in my realm of reality. That’s why I schedule everything in my calendar the same way I schedule an appointment or client. Doing this will ensure both integrity and accountability on our  part.

I recommend using project-management softwares like Asana, Trello, or Monday to create a timeline for yourself or assign tasks to your team. The best parts about using a similar tool are the reminder notifications and the ability to check tasks off -- treat them as small wins for the day! ✔️

3. Every “Day” is a source of content inspiration.

One content hack to creating more content in less time is to use what is already on the calendar. What popular holidays are already happening that month like Valentine’s or Christmas, national days & months, and even family birthdays. For speciality days, you can check out Days of the Year

4. “To do two things at once is to do neither” - Publilius Syrus

Studies show that “context-switching”, more commonly known in the workplace as “multitasking”, is actually much less effective and efficient than if you’re focusing 100% of your effort and attention on 1 thing.

Choose a day in the week or month and dedicate a pre-selected amount of time for your content creation without letting other tasks get in the way. For example, in my case I choose to batch my entire month of content on the first MOnday of every month. I block out three hours on my calendar to complete this task and do not let anything else get in the way. I don’t go on IG or FB during these times, I don’t answer my phone, I don’t read or respond to email. I focus on the one task at hand and get it done before moving on to something else.

It takes some time, discipline, and practice, but once you get used to batching 30 days of content in one sitting, you’ll find yourself having more time for other priorities the rest of the month.

5. Create less, Repurpose More

For many social media marketers, topic ideation can be the hardest part about creating content.

But did you know that you could actually take 1 piece of content and repurpose it up to 5 different ways?

Take my FB Live videos for instance. It doesn’t actually stop there.

The video gets edited down and reposted on social media, or converted into an email post and sent out to my email list. But there’s more… The same video is also transcribed into a blog and posted on my website, or turned into a social media ad using graphics and copy. Sometimes these 5 happen all at once!

This way, I am able to target more people across different platforms using 1 core topic or idea, kinda like hitting 5 birds with 1 stone!

Now, in keeping with the lesson of my final tip of repurposing content, I purposefully left out one important step, so you’ll definitely want to check out the FB Live video I made on this very topic. 😏
